A Few Words About Us
Born out of volunteerism in 1985, while volunteering in a special education classroom, was the commitment to promote the full, equitable and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society and all areas of normal life.
The journey from 1985 to Aultruism opening its doors in 2010, included studying under Dr. O Ivar Lovaas (a pioneer in the treatment of Autism), and serving children, adolescents and adults with disabilities/behavior disorders in group residential facilities, special education at public and non-public schools, supported employment, a work center, early intervention, Frank Lanterman State Developmental Center, UCLA Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, UCLA Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program (formerly ECPHP, currently KidsConnect), and various community and home settings.
Aultruism’s commitment endures today in our service provision. In collaboration with families and involved providers, Aultruism uses teaching methodologies and interventions based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to improve the lives of individuals and their families.
